5th Ranked Reflux Surgeon In The Country Brings LINX® Services To Tampa & The Surrounding Communities

The LINX® Reflux Management system is one of the newest and most innovative anti-reflux technologies on the market, and finding a good reflux surgeon who is experienced in performing the LINX® procedure is difficult. For reflux and GERD patients living in Tampa and the surrounding communities, however, the choice is simple.

About The LINX® Reflux Management System

The LINX® System is a small, flexible band of magnets enclosed in titanium beads that is used to treat Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. The beads are connected by titanium wires, and the magnetic attraction between the beads helps keep the weakened lower esophageal sphincter closed to prevent reflux. Swallowing forces temporarily break the magnetic bond, allowing food and liquid to pass into the stomach before the magnetic attraction closes the LES after swallowing, reinforcing the body’s natural barrier to reflux.

The LINX® System is placed around the esophagus just above the stomach using a common, minimally invasive surgical technique called laparoscopy. Once implanted, the device will begin working immediately. It’s an innovative alternative to traditional anti-reflux surgical options like Nissen Fundoplication, which is much more invasive.

About GERD

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, more commonly referred to as GERD, is a chronic digestive disorder affecting the lower esophageal sphincter. In patients with GERD, the lower esophageal sphincter is either weaker, shorter, or has moved into a location that is other than normal. This causes it to relax inappropriately, allowing the stomach’s contents to flow back up into the esophagus and causing gastroesophageal reflux.
